London provides a fascinating educational experience
for all age groups studying English and Drama. Theatre
studies students can combine performances with backstage
tours and theatre workshops. Explore the development
of the English theatre with a fascinating visit to the
Globe Theatre and exhibition on the banks of the River
Thames. The Theatre Museum at Covent Garden offers a
fascinating insight into production and performance,
as well as allowing students to explore an area renowned
for innovative and impromptu street theatre. Our standard
package offers bed and breakfast accommodation at a
Youth Hostel. We can however offer a range of accommodation
choices from Youth Hostel or budget hotel through to
3 star hotels. You can choose whether to include return
coach transport from your school and throughout your
stay in London. You may prefer to make your own arrangements
for transport to the city or ask us to quote for rail
travel. Our basic package includes 3 days of London
Underground passes. |

| Sample Itinerary :
Day 1: An early departure from school will ensure you
arrive in London in time to make the most of your visit.
You may wish to start your visit on a chronological
theme looking at the Theatre traditions in London. The
Globe exhibition offers an insight into Elizabethan
drama and some innovative displays. There are also a
series of workshops available on request (cost not included).
An evening performance at the Globe Theatre could be
included; the season runs from May to September (entry
costs not included and theatre tickets are subject to
availability). Performances are very popular and if
you wish to include this in your visit you will need
to book well in advance.
Day 2: After breakfast, you could visit the Theatre
Museum in Covent, you may wish to include a workshop
as part of your visit, please ask for details. After
your visit and spend some time exploring the area that
is surrounded by many famous theatres. In the afternoon
you could have a tour of the BBC Television Studios
at Wood Lane. This is an ideal opportunity for drama,
theatre and media study students to explore behind the
scenes of one of the most famous TV studios. (Please
note students must be over 14 years to take part in
this tour). Alternatively you may wish to join an audience
at a matinee performance (advanced booking is essential
and ticket costs not included) or take part in a backstage
tour of a leading London theatre. Or you may wish to
include some additional visits or sightseeing.
Day 3: Check out from your accommodation after breakfast.
Use the rest of your day to explore the city, visit
additional sights or even do some shopping before returning
to school. |
| Excursions : London
offers so many possibilities, we can only mention a
few here. One of the most popular visits is to the exhibition
at Shakespeare's
Globe. The Theatre
Museum is another popular choice as it offers a
variety of workshops as well as a museum. Madame
Tussauds is interesting for those who like to see
the stars and their fashions up close! Whilst the V
& A Museum has one of the most extensive collections
of fashion and textiles in the world. Theatre tickets:
Prices vary considerably from theatre to theatre and
show to show. As a rule, weekend performances are considerably
more expensive. Group rates are usually available for
parties of more than 10. |
