Tour
: Drama workshops in Spain |

| Location : Northern
Spain |
| Prices From : £349 |
Duration : 8 days,
5 nights |
| Tour Description :
Throughout the school year we run courses for drama
students to Northern Spain, based in coastal resorts
on the Costa Brava, one hour's drive from the beautiful
and architecturally rich city of Barcelona. These popular
courses include tuition on general theatrical skills
or specific text work, determined in consultation with
the group leaders. Our two main centres in Spain, Lloret
and Tossa de Mar, offer a contrast in style and environment.
Lloret is a lively, medium sized tourist resort with
a wide range of amenities available from swimming and
shopping to discos and karaoke bars. Tossa is a typical
small Spanish fishing port, with a beautiful bay and
beach ideal for swimming and overlooked by the ruins
of a small castle (a venue we often use for outdoor
performances). Full board accommodation is in a comfortable
tourist class hotel in either resort, with 3 or 4-bedded
rooms for students and twins for staff. All rooms are
en suite and most hotels have on site swimming pools
and other sporting facilities. Your tour will be accompanied
by our experienced tutors in theatre skills who will
lead your workshop course. |

| Sample Itinerary :
Day 1 - 2: Leaving school in the morning,
we take the early evening ferry from Dover and travel
on overnight through France, arriving in resort early
the following afternoon. There is time to unpack and
relax in your hotel before an introductory meeting with
your tutors and dinner. Take an evening walk around
the town to get your bearings.
Day 3: Morning and afternoon are devoted
to workshops, with a 2½ hour break at lunchtime to relax
and perhaps take a dip in the pool. After dinner you
could go into town for an evening at a sports bar or
similar.
Day 4: A full day trip to Barcelona,
with a coach tour of the city sights, including the
Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, the Olympic Stadium and,
of course, the Ramblas. Time may be scheduled to visit
specific galleries and sites as requested.
Day 5: We work again in the morning,
but the afternoon is free for a visit to the spectacular
Salvador Dali Museum at Figueras, a boat trip around
the bay or simply relaxing on the beach. (Please note
that entrance to the museum is not included in the tour
price.) An evening bowling or a similar event could
be arranged.
Day 6: The morning is spent preparing
for the final performances, which will be presented
after lunch, either in a theatre or other venues, according
to the tutors' requirements. In the evening you could
celebrate the week at a local disco.
Day 7 - 8:The morning is free for last
minute shopping and packing before we depart after lunch
for the journey home. We arrive at Calais in the early
morning and back at your school later in the day. |
| Excursions : Whilst
in Barcelona, you can plan the day to suit your wishes.
No entry costs are included. Most groups like to see
the Sagrada
Familia, Gaudi's unfinished cathedral and visit
Park Guell for lunch. The afternoon can be spent shopping
and exploring in the Ramblas area. Alternatively, book
a visit to the Picasso
Museum, the Poble
Espanyol or the Miro
Foundation. On the free afternoon, you can again
choose your excursion. Transfers, but not entry costs
are included. Many groups visit the Teatre-Museu
Dali in Figueras. |
