| Tour Description :
The city of Aachen is a fascinating and exciting location
for language students to explore. The city has many
medieval buildings, including the Imperial Palace of
the Emperor Charlemagne. The famous Christmas markets
can inspire some worthwhile language work and there
is a range of shops surrounding the major tourist sites
that students can visit. Students can also visit the
cathedral that for 600 years was the site of German
royal coronations, there is also a computer museum and
the Spas. It is also possible to arrange guided walks
around the city. |

| Sample Itinerary :
Day 1: Your coach will collect your
group at school and take you to Dover for a short channel
crossing to France. Travel onwards to your budget accommodation
in the Aachen area arriving in the evening.
Day 2: After breakfast, explore the
city. There are plenty of ancient buildings and museums
to visit. The city has been 'occupied' by Belgium and
France and was part of Prussia, so it is possible to
see a fusion of cultures co-existing side by side. The
medieval economy was based on textiles, in the 19th
century it gained a reputation as a leisure resort as
a Spa centre. This evening spend time at the Christmas
markets where you can look out for some unusual gifts
to take home.
Day 3: Depart in the morning for the
return journey, take an evening channel crossing and
continue on to your school. |
