Battlefields of the Two World Wars
“Our expert guide will take you through two of the most important periods of the twentieth century.”
You will visit the battlefields of the Ypres Salient and then Ypres itself where you can perhaps go to the In Flanders
Fields Museum and see the touching last post ceremony at the Menin Gate. On day three we continue to the Somme Valley, where we will stop at Lochnagar
Crater, Thiepval and its Irish Memorial and the wartime fortress village of Beaumont Hamel. In the evening there will be free time in the historic city
of Rouen, dominated by its impressive Gothic cathedral. On the final day of excursions we move onto Normandy and World War Two. The excursion-packed
day includes the Allies' first points of attack at Pegasus Bridge and St Mere Eglise, the landing beaches and Longuessur-Mer Gun Battery.
