On the highlight of this festive break you will be treated to the entertaining Dickensian Festival in Rochester. Against the enchanting backdrop of Rochester’s castle and cathedral, this delightful city offers street performers, candlelit parades, carol concerts and even a guaranteed snow fall! The traditional festival has been held annually since 1988, positioned accordingly along the river Medway, a special place to the celebrated author Charles Dickens. During the festival you will see many people dressed as the familiar fabled characters from Dickens’ famous stories.
We also visit the fabulous seaside town of Brighton. Its famous pier is a hub of activity with amusement arcades, rides and food kiosks. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront, take advantage of the many food and drink establishements of stroll the famous “Lanes” , the city’s historic quarter with a fabulous maze of twisting alleyways and shops.
On the homeward journey we stop at the UNESCO World Heritage city of Canterbury for time at your leisure, where you can visit the Christmas markets and a fascinating World Heritage Site, consisting of a Cathedral, Abbey and ancient ruins.
You will stay three nights at the Britannia Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. This 3-star hotel has well-furnished en-suite bedrooms as well as a comfortable bar, restaurant, leisure club and heated indoor pool (payable locally).
