Ostend is Belgium’s biggest seaside resort and is popular with the British who flock to it for the sun, sand and seaside air.
Ostend has a great beach, for those looking to relax and there is also plenty to do for the more adventurous, especially by night. Ostend comes alive with bars, pubs and clubs in the evening so there is always plenty to see and do.
Ostend's Albert Promenade runs the entire length of the city's 5km beachfront and its five beaches are popular with sunbathers and swimmers in the summertime. You could even try your luck one evening at the local casino (a dress code may apply).
Ostend is a vibrant city rich in history, offering plenty to see and do whatever the weather. There are a number of fascinating museums and galleries, in particular the house of James Ensor, the Anglo-Belgian artist has been transformed into a museum of his life and is worth visiting. Baron Ensor was an important influence on expressionism and surrealism and he lived in Ostend for almost his entire life.
